Mission Statement: The City of Uvalde shall operate water, gas, sewer, garbage collection, and landfill services as a public utility for the benefit of the city and its residents. Life and the quality of life in Uvalde shall be protected and enhanced by the operations of the Uvalde Utility Services (UUS).

Failure to receive a bill does not relieve any person of the responsibility for the payment of water charges within the prescribed period, nor exempt any person from any discount forfeiture for delinquency of the payment thereof.

                       Water leak Procedures: Call the Utility office at 830-278-6616 to report a water leak.

A technician will be sent to the address to take re-reads and check the meter for any leaks. He will report all findings to the utility office. If the meter is spinning excessively, the service man will turn off the meter and call the utility office to relay information. The City of Uvalde is not responsible for any water leaks on private property.

The charges for the city water shall be collected on all water that passes through the meter, whether used or not. City ordinance 13.04.170

Any consumer of the utility services furnished by the city which has discontinued such services through either nonpayment of the utility bills or through relocation of residence with a delinquent account shall be required to furnish a double deposit for city services requested and such consumer shall also be required to pay all past due utility bills and penalties. City ordinance 2003-14

Failure to receive bill does not exempt from payment: failure to receive a water bill shall not relieve any person of the responsibility for the payment of water charges within the prescribed period, nor exempt any person from any discount forfeiture for delinquency in the payment thereof. New Service: 9-1-1 address required
Water Taps: A request can be made at the Uvalde Utility Service office with customer’s information. The information will be given to the water department requesting a quote. For an Outside City Limits (OCL) request, customer shall fill out application; turn it in to city secretary for scheduling on the next city council meeting for approval on water tap/service. City ordinance 13.04-060

                                                                              Gas Leak Procedures:
If odor is detected, immediately evacuate the building, do not smoke and do not use light switches. Call the UUS office immediately with the location of the gas odor and the grade of the odor level from a safe location at (830) 278-8721 or (830) 278-6616. A gas department technician will be dispatched to the location immediately. After hours call the Uvalde Police Department at 830-278-9147.

Gas Taps: A request can be made at the UUS office. Customer’s information will be given to the gas department requesting a quote.

Wastewater Procedures: For sewer backups and drainage problem, call the UUS office to dispatch the sewer department.

Sewer Taps: A request can be made at the UUS office. Customer’s information will be given to the sewer department for a quote. City ordinance13.08-080

Solid Waste & Recycling: All inside city limit accounts require a waste container. Number of containers cannot exceed more than three per household. Any questions or concerns, extra pick­ups or damaged containers please call (830)278-6616.

Where can I pay my bill? Online, over the phone, kiosk, Walmart, HEB and in person.

I don’t have any water and the office is closed, who do I call? You can call 830/278-9147 and speak to the dispatcher.

I have a gas leak and the office is closed, who do I call? You can call 830/278-9147 and speak to the dispatcher.

Can I disconnect my services over the phone? No, you can disconnect only in person or via email and only the account holder may do so.

Can I open services online? Yes, we do provide the application online and the requirements to open services.

I missed my trash pick-up, what do I do? You can call the office and we will put in a work order to have the department go back after they have completed the route for the day.

New construction? First, you will need to establish a 9-1-1 address. Next you may call the office for request of water, gas, sewer quotes if inside city limits. If outside city limits, you will have to go through an application process. 

I have to close the water meter for repairs, can I close it myself? You will have to either call our office or if after hours, call the dispatcher at the police department at 830-278-9147 and they will send someone to do so. Customers should have a shut off valve installed on customer property in the event of an emergency. Customer may be held liable if shut off valve is broken while attempting to close water meter valve.

Can I change my due date? No, due dates are determined by the area of town you live in.

Meter tampering will be subject to fees assessed to the bill.
