Historic District Design Standards
In 2011, the Uvalde City Council adopted a preservation ordinance which regulates historic districts and landmarks. The Design Standards and Guidelines regulate changes to the exterior of all buildings in the Original Historic Downtown Overlay District, the boundaries of which are the same as the Central Business District. If you are planning changes to your downtown building, call to the Historic Preservation Officer at 278-3315 first.
Historic Preservation Board
The Historic Preservation Board is appointed by city council to review changes to the exterior of buildings in historic districts and designated landmarks. They issue certificates of appropriateness and approve Landmark applications and demolition requests. The board meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m.
