The Uvalde Police Department has 39 police officers, 2 animal control officers and 11 civilian employees (budgeted).

The Uvalde Fire Department has 4 full-time and 30 volunteer personnel. UFD has mutual agreements with surrounding cities and will service wherever it is needed, as long as vehicles are available. UFD has an ISO scale -  fire insurance rating of 5 in town / 9 out of the city limits.
